WHAT DO YOU MEAN: Cruelty-Free ≠ Vegan

In the beauty world, cruelty-free and vegan aren’t interchangeable terms.

Here is a info-graphic provided by our friends at Ethical Elephant to help illustrate the difference between cruelty-free and vegan:

Basically, cruelty-free means that a particular product or company does not conduct animal testing and vegan means that this product or company does not use animal ingredients.
A product can be cruelty-free but not vegan or vegan but not cruelty-free. In the best-case scenario, it is both cruelty-free AND vegan!

Remember, for a product to earn the Leaping Bunny certification it must be BOTH vegan and CF.
PETA, on the other hand, provides two different “Beauty without Bunnies” badge, one for CF distinction and one for CF + vegan distinction.
